Monster: Ultra Wild Passion
December 31, 2025
today's lucky winner is Ultra Wild Passion. this is a new flavor. I saw it for the first time about a month ago. it was kind of funny, because it was in the typical fridges they have in stores, but the front of each row had a different monster flavor, and then the entire rest of the row was just this one. very curious.
the description on the can reads as follows:
"Living with passion and chasing dreams is all we've ever known. Making it happen all day, every day gets exhausting though. To help us charge-on comes Ultra Wild Passion. Fully loaded with our legendary energy blend allowing you to focus on what inspires you and lifts you up. Zero sugar, Wild Passion pairs the sweet & tart flavor of passionfruit with a twist creating a new taste sensation. It's a light, refreshing, super easy drinking pick-me-up you won't want to put down."
the flavor profile, as defined on the website, is "Passionfruit With Citrus."
Rating: commas where
I'm endlessly curious who the copywriter is for this stuff. Do they proofread? Are they using Grammarly? It sounds like they're using Grammarly.
the can is a very nice shade of purple. lilac-ish. the can rim and designs are done in a darker purple, which creates a nice contrast. the designs are various jungle animals including a chameleon, an elephant, a crocodile, a leopard, and a snake with very sharp teeth preparing to take a big chomp. there's also greenery such as ferns, fronds, and vines. some ferns and grasses are in gold as an accent.
this mix of purples is definitely one of my favorite colorschemes for a Monster can, so if this tastes bad I will piss and shit. I'm especially cautious because I tried the passionfruit Jarritos flavor for the first time recently and it tasted like ass. I poured the rest in the sink.
- anyways.
- smells like passionfruit. and the typical Monster "citrus." 6/10
- I can...kind of? taste the passionfruit. ???/10
- it honestly just tastes like static with a vaguely passionfruit aftertaste. and the passionfruit aftertaste does not taste good. 4/10
- the "citrus" is definitely a recognizable Monster taste. it helps mask the passionfruit, but it also just makes the drink taste kind of generic. 5/10
overall rating: 4/10. it's not bad, but it's not particularly good. between this and the jarritos, I think I also just don't like the taste of passionfruit. I will probably buy it again if I'm at work and I want a Monster, if only because the can is nice to look at. it might taste better cold.
post script: the passionfruit aftertaste is becoming more noticeable as time goes on. this makes my retroactive enjoyment of the drink significantly less. -2 to overall score.
