Aussie Lemonade

August 06, 2022

this post is about (take a guess) the Monster flavor "Aussie Lemonade." the description on the can reads as follows:
"Inspired by the land down under with over 10,000 beaches, the Great Barrier Reef, and home to some of the most exotic citrus on earth comes Juice Monster Aussie Style Lemonade. Monster's twist on classic lemonade, we hit the ideal balance of tart and sweet with a burst of fresh citrus flavor. As always, it's chockers with our world-famous Monster Energy Blend. Crack a coldie and give it a go!"

the flavor profile, as defined on the website, is "Exotic Lemonade."

RATING: Okay.
I am quite a fan of lemonade, and surely there's only so many ways you can change lemonade. surely you can't mess up lemonade too badly, right? right?

the can art is pretty neat. we're looking from the angle of someone underwater, so it's light at the top where the sun hits the water and darker as we descend. most of the space is dedicated to sea life: an octopus, some coral, a seahorse, a jellyfish, and a few (very frightening, honestly) fish. in the back we see the silhouettes of some more fish as well as a human swimmer.

forgot to mention, I'm not "cracking a coldie," as it were. it's been on my bedroom floor for a few days. anyways onto the drink, here is my review:

  1. it does smell like lemonade. this is a very good sign. 10/10
  2. it tastes like lemonade, but there is something....distinctly not lemon in there. it doesn't feel like it belongs. 5/10
  3. once I got over that initial shock, it really does just taste like lemonade. there's not really any aftertaste. 10/10

overall rating: 9/10. it's certainly not bad. it's quite good, but it's also nothing special. like I said, it literally tastes like any other lemonade. so I think I'd rather just buy a normal lemonade and save a few dollars. the can art is pretty, though.
